There is a visa-free regime for Ukraine!

One step away from visa-free travel! The EU Committee expects that the liberalization of the visa regime for Ukraine will enter into force in the near future.

On November 17, a meeting of the Committee of Permanent Representatives took place, which, on behalf of the EU Council, approved liberalization of the visa regime for Ukraine.

On September 26, the EU Commission made a proposal to provide visa-free travel for Ukrainian citizens to the EU for a period of up to 90 stays within a 180-day period. The Committee of Permanent Representatives approved this proposal.

A condition for the entry into force of the liberalization of the visa regime for Ukraine is the entry into force of the mechanism for withdrawing from the visa regime.

The EU Committee expects that negotiations on the suspension mechanism will be completed as soon as possible.

We remind you that in December 2015 the Commission concluded that Ukraine fulfilled all conditions for exemption from the need to obtain visas. On April 20, 2016, the Commission published a proposal to liberalize the visa regime.

These actions by the EU can be regarded as “green light” for citizens of Ukraine and waiting introduction of a visa-free regime in the near future
