A terminal for low-cost airlines will be built in Gostomel
In the fall of 2018, Ryanair was supposed to start flights from Ukraine, but since it was not possible to agree with the Boryspil airport, the launch of new flights had to be postponed until this issue was resolved.
Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groisman said that they managed to find a way out of the situation: at Gostomel airport, which was previously used only for Antonov, a special terminal for low-cost airlines will be built, which will make it possible to launch Ryanair and other low-cost flights from Gostomel in the future. – airlines.
According to the Prime Minister, Gostomel airport received a specific task: to build a terminal in six months and prepare the airport to receive low-cost airlines. During this period, Zhuliany or Boryspil may offer their services to Ryanair on a temporary basis.
Volodymyr Groisman said that the Cabinet did not know that Infrastructure Minister Volodymyr Omelyan was going to sign a memorandum with Ryanair in March. The construction of the terminal in Gostomel could have started immediately, if only the Cabinet of Ministers had been notified of everything in advance, the Prime Minister said.
Also, Volodymyr Groisman believes that low-cost airlines should be attracted to Ukraine, and not only to Kiev, but also to Lviv, Kharkiv and other cities. In the near future, a strategy for the development of Ukrainian airports will be developed.
He also recalls that Qatar Airways announced promotional fares of up to -30% in honor of the start of flights from Ukraine, and Wizz Air is launching 2 more new flights from Ukraine.
